An exciting opportunity has arisen with an award-winning utilities company that seeks a Contentious Legal Counsel to join their large legal team.
Responsibilities:
- One of the main responsibility for this role will be pursuing and defending various civil claims against the business, whether than be in an Employment Tribunal, Civil Courts, Land Tribunals, or through alternative dispute resolution
- You will be protecting the reputation of the company in the Magistrates and Crown Court in respect of prosecutions by external parties
- The range of matters you will be instructed on will cover areas such as; engineering and construction disputes, commercial claims, debt recovery, employments issues and property claims etc
- You will be expected to negotiate with third parties and advise on settlement terms and be able to advise on disputes with various contractors
We are looking for:
- You will be a qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with a minimum of 3 years PQE*
- It’s essential you will have experience in advocacy experience and be able to draft and negotiating settlements
- Ideally you will have criminal practice in defence/prosecution
- You will be expected to have excellent communication skills and liaise confidently at all levels across the organisation and externally
- You will have strong analytical skills and be able to absorb information quickly
