This is an exciting opportunity for a Principal Advisory Lawyer to provide high-quality legal advice to a variety of stakeholders. Based in our client's London office, the successful applicant will be responsible for leading a team and providing legal advice across the organisation.

  • Provide comprehensive legal advice to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead, manage and develop others within the team, by proactively identifying opportunities for learning and improvement and ensuring work produced is accurate and focused on delivering solutions. Line manage a number of colleagues and deputise for the Senior Counsel and Associate Director, Legal as appropriate.
  • Handle high-profile cases within the healthcare sector.
  • Collaborate with colleagues from other departments to ensure smooth operations.
  • Stay updated on changes in healthcare legislation and regulations.
  • Ensure the organisation's compliance with legal requirements.
  • Ensure the provision of accurate, timely and risk-based legal advice.


Specialist Knowledge & Qualifications Required:

The successful applicant will be a qualified and practising solicitor or barrister or ILEX qualified with significant post qualification experience of advising on public and regulatory law issues within a statutory, regulatory or similar framework.

The chosen candidate will successfully demonstrate the following experience, skills and abilities:

  • Excellent legal analytical skills with the ability to analyse complex legal issues and present legally sound, risk-based and pragmatic advice and instructions, with a genuine interest in and commitment to applying those skills to tackle novel legal issues.
  • Demonstrable experience of building strong working relationships with stakeholders at all levels, including evidence of providing constructive challenge and being a trusted advisor to senior leaders.
  • Proven ability to work independently and lead legal support on complex and high-risk matters, identifying, managing and escalating risks as appropriate.
  • Ability to understand and engage with strategic issues, identifying potential legal risks at an early stage and providing advice that takes account of the wider context.
  • Experience of successful project delivery, managing self and others to deliver within challenging timescales.
  • Proven ability to manage and develop others, including as a line manager.
  • Commitment to developing own skills, experience and resilience.
  • Demonstrable experience of promoting adherence to the principles of equality and diversity, both in legal advice and day-to-day conduct.
