Law firm in Southampton which is well-regarded for the work it does in Clinical Negligence law is seeking to recruit two Defendant Clinical Negligence lawyers – one of 0 to 2 years’ PQE and the other of 3 or more years’ PQE. The team handles a challenging but fulfilling caseload of defendant clinical negligence work- acting for a variety of clients, which may include work for NHS Resolution, NHS Trusts, MDU, independent providers, and medical malpractice insurers.

The successful candidates will undertake a challenging caseload of defendant clinical negligence work on behalf of NHS Resolution (with appropriate levels of Partner supervision, depending on your PQE). This will include drafting pleadings, witness statements and letters of response, conducting face to face negotiations and mediation of claims as well as preparing counter schedules. You will act as first and primary contact for clients on a day-to-day basis providing them with commercially focused legal advice whilst adhering closely to client protocol and process. You will also assist the team with business development and networking activities. Qualified applicants will have experience in defendant or claimant clinical negligence, or defendant insurance law. Experience gained within an NHS Resolution panel firm would be of interest (but not essential) as would an understanding of the NHS. If you are newly-qualified you will have undertaken a seat in Personal Injury or Clinical Negligence (Defendant or Claimant).
