This respected offshore law firm encourages its lawyers to take leadership responsibility in both managing deals and building client relationships. As part of a small but high-performing BVI team, you will quickly be running large corporate matters spanning areas such as M&A, private equity, funds, and corporate finance. It is complex and challenging work that demands intellectual agility, technical excellence, and strong communication skills, but which will in turn enable you to build the perfect platform for future partnership. Furthermore, this is a friendly and collegiate team with the drive and ambition to grow, making it a nice place to work as well as a serious career move.
British Virgin Islands
For some, the BVI is the pick of the Caribbean. A mountainous, rain-forested interior surrounded by picture-postcard bays, it is probably not far from the idyllic image that might cross your mind when you ponder whether there is ‘more to life’. It’s not for everyone. You will need to be comfortable with a slower pace, you will see its remoteness as a gift rather than an inconvenience, and you will be the sort of person who gets more out of sailing, diving, or relaxing on the beach than you do from the buzz of city life. If that’s you, you will love it here. Not to mention that the work, much of it emanating out of China/Asia, is some of the most interesting and challenging in the sector.
Process
Interviews will take place by videoconference with start dates typically around 4-6 months later. Our clients provide comprehensive assistance with visas and relocation, including temporary accommodation on arrival.
Package
Salary expected to be in the range of USD160k-USD210k with a low tax rate (c8%). Comprehensive benefits, bonus, and relocation package (flights + temporary accommodation on arrival + expenses allowance).
Requirements
To secure a work permit in the BVI you will need to be admitted as a Solicitor or Barrister in the UK. This role is likely to suit someone with at least 5 or 6 years’ PQE but more experienced Associates are encouraged to apply. You will need to be able to demonstrate a good track record of advising on high-value corporate work gained with a respected City or leading regional (or equivalent) law firm.
