This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Commercial/Chancery Barrister to move offshore with one of the leading names in the market. Joining a Cayman Islands litigation team with a long-standing reputation for excellence, you will be involved in some of the largest and most complex disputes in the offshore sector. Working with an international client base, your practice will encompass a broad range of commercial, financial services, and insolvency disputes, and will include both preparatory and courtroom work. As a Senior Associate, you will be expected to assist in the training and development of more junior colleagues and to play a full part in the firm's business development and client management efforts. It is ideal for an ambitious and career-minded lawyer craving a consistent diet of high-class work whilst enjoying a lifestyle that is simply unattainable in most onshore financial centres.
The Cayman Islands
A world-class international financial centre, Grand Cayman offers lawyers the opportunity to do high-quality and complex work that compares favourably with that in a leading onshore law firm. Outside of work, the climate lends itself to an outdoors lifestyle whether that be diving, sailing, relaxing on the beach or enjoying a bite to eat at a waterfront restaurant. Life here is good; rarely does anyone regret making the move.
Process
Interviews will take place by videoconference with start dates typically around 4-6 months later (depending on your notice period). Our clients provide comprehensive assistance with visas and relocation.
Package
Highly attractive tax-free salary dependent on experience. Comprehensive benefits, bonus, and relocation package (flights + temporary accommodation on arrival + expenses allowance)
Requirements
To secure a work permit for the Cayman Islands you will need to be admitted as a Barrister or Solicitor in the UK or an equivalent Commonwealth jurisdiction (such as Australia, New Zealand or Canada). This role is expected to suit someone with at least 5 years’ relevant PQE of highly complex international litigation, gained with a major onshore or offshore law firm. Cayman experience would be valuable but is not essential.
Origin Legal International
Our team has 25 years’ experience of helping lawyers to make international and offshore moves. If you would like to find out more about this role or chat about an overseas move in general, please get in touch.
