A Legal Executive is a type of Lawyer who trains, specialises and qualifies in just one practice area such as litigation, private client or conveyancing. The duties of a Legal Executive are largely similar to those of a Solicitor, including advising clients, preparing documents and attending court. The major difference between the two roles is that a Solicitor gains exposure to several practice areas during their training contract. You do not necessarily need a law degree to become a Legal Executive, but must undertake the qualification offered by the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx).

The average annual salary of a Legal Executive is £40,192, according to the results of our latest Audience Insight Report. Find out more about the role in our Legal Executive Job Description, or start applying for Legal Executive jobs below.
