Legal Counsel - Cheltenham/Bristol/Hybrid working

Your new firm
Our highly successful client, who are known for being industry leaders, are now looking for a Legal Counsel to join their Governance team based in Cheltenham due to continued growth . This role will work on a hybrid basis, sharing time between home and the office. The base office will in Cheltenham however our client also have a Bristol office and are happy to consider candidates local to either area, provided you are happy to travel to Cheltenham circa once a week.

Your new role
Reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel, you will be :
  • Liaising with external legal contacts and legal specialists
  • Dealing with firmwide BAU legal issues


  • Assisting with maintaining internal legal documents, including but not limited to members agreement, terms of business and schedules and confidentiality agreements
  • Drafting, negotiating and reviewing commercial contracts, tenders, engagement letters, NDA's, licences amongst others
  • Assisting with general contact matters as appropriate within the business including member agreements and supplier agreements
  • Other legal matters that may arise
  • Assisting with the interpretation and understanding external legal advice



What you'll need to succeed
You will be a qualified lawyer, circa 3 PQE+, with experienced gained either in-house or in private practice. You will have good experience in dealing with contract law including drafting and negotiating commercial agreements directly, and knowledge of intellectual property, information security and data protection including GDPR experience. Knowledge of employment, financial services, FCA regulation and pensions experience is preferred but not essential.
