Career change to Pro Bono Coordinator, for Family or Employment Lawyer - based in Newcastle.
I am exclusively instructed by this highly regarded educational establishment, seeking a qualified lawyer (solicitor or barrister) to take responsibility for establishing and co-ordinating the pro bono programme undertaken by its students within the region.
Suitable lawyers will already be based within the North East, working in a commercial or legal aid practice (or chambers) and will be looking for a new challenge. Family and employment lawyers would be of particular interest. The role would be ideal for someone who would relish the opportunity to make a real difference in a people facing role, whilst also "giving back" within the local community. Additionally, you will have a keen interest in student development and study.
Acting as supervising solicitor, the successful individual will have the ability to establish links with community-based groups and relevant legal practices, taking advantage of tried and tested methods/blueprints already in place in other regions. Teamwork with colleagues across the UK is essential for the sharing of good practice and expertise.
Attributes necessary for the role would include strong organisational skills, ability to cooperate, collaborate and facilitate in an effective manner, strong communication and persuasion skills and the ability to work well with a wide range of people and environments. Ongoing training and development will be given. This is an excellent opportunity to make a material difference to students and those in the community. The role is open to those seeking a 5 day working week, or a 5 day week condensed into 4 days.
