A great opportunity has arisen for a Legal Services Manager to join a small council based in East Anglia for an initial 3 months period with the view for extension.

The council are offering fully remote working due to the current circumstances for the foreseeable future.

The role requires being the operational manager for Legal Services (7 staff, directly line manage 4) and Licensing Services (6 staff, directly line manage 1) and holding a caseload of files.

The Legal Services Manager will need to be comfortable operating with minimal support. The ideal Legal Services Manager would have a breadth and depth of district council local government law knowledge and experience. The Council operate in areas such as are Commercial and Residential property, Planning, Housing, Licensing, Contracts/Commercial, Litigation (Civil and Criminal) and Information Law.

It's particularly important the candidate has up to date experience and knowledge of Licensing Law and is confident advising in this area. The lawyer will need to write and present reports at Licensing Committee and Licensing Sub-Committee, sit as the Legal Adviser and the Licensing Operational Manager at these committee meetings and answer technical and policy queries from the Licensing Officers on a regular/daily basis.
