An exciting opportunity has come up for a Senior Lawyer to join a Central Government team to provide high quality litigation services to an interesting Public Inquiry. The client is looking for a qualified senior lawyer, with experience of public inquiries and/or litigation.

As a Senior Lawyer, you will have the responsibility for managing a team of lawyers and paralegals as well as wider team contribution

Key Responsibilities of the Senior Inquiry Lawyer

  • Lead a team of lawyers and paralegals delivering support to one of more of our client departments
  • Project manage and lead teams of external stakeholders
  • Manage a broad range of varied case work activities complying with policies, standards, procedures and service level agreements.
  • Demonstrate an excellent understanding of the context in which the client operates
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive case files of both paper and on a IT case management system.

Required Skills and experience of the Inquiry Lawyer

  • Previous experience of public inquiries/reviews and/or litigation is essential.
  • Qualified lawyer. Can be a fully qualified lawyer from another jurisdiction (Australian or New Zealand) At least 6 years PQE.
  • Public law experience within the public sector is desirable
  • Excellent organisational skills (including the ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise own work in order to manage a busy and/or complex workload, and the ability to master new areas of law quickly) are essential
  • Excellent leadership and managerial skills are essential.
  • Project management experience is desirable
  • Team working and client care skills (including the ability to build constructive working relationships with clients) are essential
